    Missy Elliot is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actress. Elliott is a five-time Grammy winner and the only female rapper to have six albums certified platinum by the RIAA. Coming from a rough childhood of domestic abuse, Elliott escaped through music and by forming her first band Fayze, where she eventually met future collaborators Timbaland and Magoo. She eventually earned great success as a solo artist and producer with hits like “The Rain,” “Get Ur Freak On” and more. Elliott has also done a handful of charity work, supporting PETA and a strong spay/neuter program for all adopted animals. She has also raised funds for the M.A.C.
